Mrs. Ramirez Shines at Showcase

May 23, 2016 by Susan Armendariz

LMU’s Center for Math and Science Teaching (CMAST) hosted the Teacher Leader Showcase. Teacher Leaders completed an intense 2 year program and will receive a Certificate in Leadership in Common Core Mathematics and Common Core Mathematics Coaching. Teacher Leaders from the Los Angeles area shared their experiences, including how they are leading change at their site.

Nativity students from grades 3,5,6,7,8 were selected to participated in the showcase. Students used iPads to give a live demonstration of the instructional moves implemented in our classroom. The poster presented data (STAR Math scores, Students and teacher self assessments, student surveys, teacher surveys) that supported the shift in pedagogy. The strategies presented were very authentic and a manageable way for students to take more ownership of learning and reviewing. It was impressive to watch the Nativity students in action!

We are so very proud of Mrs. Ramirez, our students and those who participated!!! Click here for more photos.
